Junkyu Park

Praised by Kukmin daily newspaper of Korea for his “rich and colorful sound”, JunKyu Park is a Korean-Canadian cellist looking to expand his horizons.

His notable awards include first prizes in CMC Music Competition, Sookmyung Women’s University Music Competition, Nanpa Music Competition, Kukminilbo & Hansei University Music Competition, Seoul Student Chamber Music Competition, Hanyang University Music Competition, Seoul Symphony Orchestra Music Competition, CBS National Music Competition, Kyeongin Ilbo Music Competition, Catholic University Music Competition, and Bucheon-Si National Music Competition. He is also one of the recipients of the Felix Galimir Award for Excellence in chamber music. Park appeared as a soloist with renowned orchestras such as Bucheon Philharmonic Orchestra and Seoul philharmonic orchestra, praised by his colleagues for his vibrant and charismatic sounds.

Park was granted full-scholarship for his Master of Music degree at University of Toronto. He was also granted full-scholarship for the Artist diploma at the Hartt School along with being chosen as a member of prestigious 20/20 ensemble program. He completed his undergraduate degree in cello performance the University of McGill with major entrance scholarship. He attended Yewon School and Seoul Arts High School.

He served assistant principal cellist at Edmonton Symphony Orchestra for 2018/2019.
